About the benefit

The Ontario Child Benefit gives low-income to moderate-income families up to $1,680 per child per year to help with the cost of raising children. You can receive this benefit if you are working or if you are not working.

Apply

To apply and receive the benefit you must apply for the Canada Child Benefit. When you apply for the Canada Child Benefit you are automatically assessed for the Ontario Child Benefit.

The Canada Revenue Agency ( CRA ) determines your monthly payments. The amount you receive depends on your adjusted family net income on your annual income tax return.
